I'm pretty sure that they weren't planning for it to happen, although it feels like they have safeguards toward everything. Perhaps this was their Achilles' heel?
Of course they were caught with their pants down. thing about stocks is most people do not understand and/or dont care about the market. Combine that with the ability to make anyone who gives you a hard time rich. you just tell them what to do. no money changes hand. bribes are paid. and combine that with a business that no longer has a profitable business model. if anyone questions/implies/accuses anything they just have to point to blockbuster, vonage, blackberry. the whole point is to gamble on a loss.
