Depends who you ask, and/or which live streamers you watch. Some videos show absolute chaos. Others show a large peaceful crowd waving flags. I’d say the first people there got violent and broke down the fences before the majority of the crowd was there. Then people filled in after the speech. Most were peaceful, but some of the ones at the front again got violent and breached. Same thing with the ones who broke inside. It appears the initially people were violent and broke in, and then a peaceful crowd later followed. The overall portion of violent rioting people seemed to be a very small fraction of the massive crowd of protestors. The vast majority was peaceful and just standing there waving flags, despite some yelling angry chants. Most people there probably had no idea there was violence. Many people had no idea there was a break in and assumed the police were just gassing people for standing there with flags. The media is indeed selectively showing the violent parts only to frame the whole movement that way.
