This is one of the big reasons why I decided to build out my library earlier this year. So many censored books, so much lost history.

May I suggest adding an old dictionary (you can find them on ebay pretty easily) and an old set of encyclopedias? History is changing faster and faster now.

I own my grandmother's American history book (from 1941) and it's drastically different than current history books, in form as well as content. They used essays and stories from literature to illustrate American principles and to teach American history. It's lovely.

There are also some good online resources where you can download old books and dictionaries (or just search the dictionaries) as well:

I started reading Wallbuilders Founders Bible about a month ago, and this is why I'm behind my 'Read the Bible in a year' schedule. The Founders Bible is filled with historical anecdotes, speeches, early legislation, etc.
