"Lion Ted" was never a thing. At best he's an opportunist, who was genuinely on Trump's side (inasmuch as he's ever on a side) for as long as Trump was in office, and is now quite content to sidle back to the rest of the loser GOP and play their "aw shucks, we'll get 'em next time, but let's not get too fired up about this" game.
At worst, he's always been one of the deepest cover swamp members.
