The insurrection act may have been the right move, but it would always present some degree of a gamble. What may have become of Trump if he had invoked it and it ultimately had failed? Would he still walk free? The two months of fruitless attempts may now seem like completely wasted time with the advantage of hindsight, but at the time many expected that working within the system would succeed and was the appropriate course to pursue.
