I was reading the Lyin Ted thread and I again saw some folks saying we need to start a third party. And at this point I think they are saying it from a point of emotion and not realpolitik.

I am of the opinion that we will have a much quicker path to victory by taking over the GOP. Rather than starting a third party that get any victories of any sort by 2040. And by that time this country is done. The thing is that Trump knows this which is why he isn’t starting a third party because he knows that it will fail miserably. Even if he is at the head of it.

If we are going to win we must be just as Machiavellian as the left, and not lash out by saying “fuck it” and starting a third party.

This situation is grim, but it’s not as dire many on here think it is. It will have to get a whole hell of a lot worse before we actually start garnering any popular support for a third party.

Just keep doing what you've always done and you'll keep getting what you've always got. That's the biggest problem we've got right now, too many people afraid to take any risk. Be bold, try something meaningful for once. You could fail, but if you aren't falling you aren't trying, you aren't learning, you aren't growing. If you write things off as doomed to fail, then you're doomed to fail.

I don’t see anything bold about creating a third party that won’t be a threat to the establishment. Even if Trump is at the helm. Especially if Jared Kushner is whispering in his ear telling Trump how to fail like he has the moment Bannon was thrown out.
