That he changed his tune later is only because it became politically convenient to lump together people that don't wear masks with Trump supporters and then dismiss them as "deranged lunatics that want to kill grandma".
Even if you don't think it was politically motivated, it seems clear that Fauci reacted to the public hysteria and constantly changes policy based on that, which is not scientific in any way.

How does the increase in mask sales make him money? I have never heard any type of link that was between him or many masks company. If you wanna read further, he actually donated almost all the money that the government gave him after developing an ANTI-AIDS drug.
