You blame it on the boomers and the boomers blame it on the millennials and the millennials… look there’s enough blame to ho around for everyone to share including you. Every generation has done their part busting their butts trying to save the Republic just as they’ve got to admit their generation screwed things up more than it was. The problem is it gets exponentially worse with every subsequent generation because only 10% are willing to do the heavy lifting. It’s like that with everything from the job site to congress.
I was speaking to a fairly specific topic and seem to have triggered some kind of overarching sore spot. Perhaps more detail is warranted.
I grew up in the gap between gen x and gen y. I come from a 'cold warrior' family who all did time in the service, vietnam era or before. Most went into defense industry jobs post service. When the cold war ended and slick willy took command they all swore up and down (with a bizzare kind of pride I must say) they'd never let THIER kids serve in the 'new army' or the 'kinder gentler' military. They were partially bitter about their forever jobs evaporating along with the cold war. They also seemed to think that keeping conservative kids from going into the military was a good thing. Scored an own goal with that one.
Guess who didn't give a shit about willy being the commander in chief, libtard boomer parents. I did my time as an enlisted because family seemed to think it had a right to dictate whether I served or not. Getting a commission ain't easy when your own people are running block. Its also a bit shitty watching the people who signed up for small scale socialism get a bump to the head of the line. I did my time inspite of people who want to bitch about too many libs running the military and government so forgive my lack of sympathy. We shouldn't be hamstringing our own out of spite while pretending to do them a favor.
Boycotting a career field only helps if the world stops without you. News flash, it doesnt. If they want you gone, boycotting may well be the same as quitting and handing over the keys.
If you want more libs moving up the ranks and signing off on stupid bullshit, go ahead and let them have the slots without any competition. Because that's how it works now.
We should be pushing to get our people qualified and moving up. Not telling them to skip school and be a welder because fuk the gubmint.
So at the risk of sounding like a dick, OK Boomer.
So what’s your problem with people who skip school and become welders? Not everyone wants or needs a piece of paper from an “online university” to attain their American dream. That’s an elitist attitude if there ever was one.
Feel free to continue wrapping yourself in ignorance, and the false virtue of selling oneself short. The elites love it when we do that.
My problem is people believing that the answer to our problems is to check out and encourage other conservatives to quit as well and hand it all over to the libs. Good welders are valuable and paid accordingly. But unless conservatives get qualified in more than just trades, and get involved with running the 'organs of the state', nothing will change. There will never be conservatives in positions of influence if they all buy into, fuk gubmint I'll be a welder.
We need people to get through the universities and into the bureaucracies where they can build resumes and establish upward mobility. No welder will ever wear general stars and be in a position to stop woke shit from fucking the military. No welder will ever be appointed as a judge. And contrary to fantasies held by far too many, no welder will ever have a shot at higher office. Why do you think no one gives a shit if a welder is conservative? Because it doesn't matter. Not the same way it matters which way a teacher or a judge leans. We need to stop setting ourselves up to fall for posers (deep state ivy Leaguers who are 'qualified' and only pretend to be on our side) and start encouraging our own to train up so they can fight the good fight.
I understand mocking the dipshits with 100k in debt and a degree in basket weaving, but I must point out the insanity of expecting some random to magically appear with all the right boxes checked and our interests at heart. Criminals would immediately suspect such a person was a narc, and rightly so. We conservatives just keep falling for it over and over.
Trump got educated, trump established upward mobility, trump networked, trump established real financial independence. These were the tools Trump had at his disposal during his fight. I see few on our side equipping themselves for anything other than slave labor. And I find it ridiculous for people to bitch about the deep state then tell younger generations to effectively give up, become a stripper and submit.
The 'elites' you harbor a grudge against are only 'special' and 'elite' because of people like yourself who discourage others from competing with them. In the absence of competition, their stock goes up and the nepotism and groupthink increases. If you don't think conservatives have what it takes to win, you've already lost and should probably just get out of the way.
