Under Western water law it's illegal to capture your waste water from sinks, showers, or even your pee. You are breaking the law if you filter your own pee and water your garden with it. Someone literally owns the water rights to your waste water down stream and it's considered stealing from them.

You can grow food on your property.
In many cities it's illegal to grow vegetables in your front yard. Where cities allow it many HOA's will fuck your life up if you try.
