I can only assume that the tax payers are paying for all this. If Congress is so scared they need private security at their own expense.

The whole thing was to cover for the fact that very few people would have come to the "inauguration". They didn't want the general public to see the quantifiable lack of popularity for the "most popular candidate". It would have exposed the obvious election fraud to the low info population.

You are right. It is to justify making half the country into "domestic terrorists" by showing everyone how much security is needed to stop Trump supporters.
I know several currently there from our area. Two meals a day, only one of them hot. Inadequate heat, no cots, covered from snows but in a walless open parking deck, Inadequate power outlets, news and social media blocked on their phones, Inadequate bathrooms, showers only twice weekly for enlisted. This is fact, one of them is my active duty, not NG, son. Wtf are they doing to our children?

What if it's a joke that Trump is playing. Like basically mocking gun control. I don't mean to glow or anything but I think it would be hilarious if we just marched right back into the capital, waved at the soldiers and then arrested Congress ourselves.
When the Dem's bitch about why the soldiers aren't protecting them Trump and the Patriots can say, "Ohh but we thought you said guns were bad.

I think the main reason is to make sure nobody can protest the impeachment, but it probably goes beyond that. I think they’re scared shitless and also trying to intimidate the public.
I don’t think they’re going to be leaving DC on schedule. I suspect it will be like this for at least the next four years.
Given the fact that there’s a whole joint task force there though, I do almost wonder I’d they’re afraid of some sort of attack by some sort of “rogue” elements of the military or something. (I just don’t know what those elements would be if any.) It’s obviously overkill for defense against Antifa-like rioters, but also seems like overkill for defense against armed irregular militants as well.
I can only hope it’s mostly for show.
