They're a content proxy in the same way as Nitter, Biliogram, libreddit, etc. Ideally the content just gets posted to a better platform but these tools allow us to mitigate any positive impact we may have for those sites in the meantime.
Download Brave then grab the browser extension "Privacy Redirect". It will randomize which instance of the service you connect to. Each instance is hosted by a different organization in a different location meaning your also insulate yourself from some of the surveillance techniques of your service provider.
