This picture also doesn't show the mass amounts of bodies just out of shot from the massacres that took place.

This pic is a prime example of media taking one perfect little moment to tell their own narrative when in reality it was far worse and more fluid than this and this one insignificant man actually did sod all.

You either stand together or die apart

It's a good warning of what can happen here if smart actions are not taken by enough people. But we're in a worse situation because of the high IQ mad scientists and advanced tech we're up against.

this image collapsed the USSR though. it was after this image that most of eastern europe and russia itself had a bunch of civvies rush tanks.

it also collapsed, smashed and squished 10's of thousands of Chinese.

most of eastern europe and russia itself had a bunch of civvies rush tanks.

what now? never heard of this

2
Drcm 2 points ago +2 / -0

its not exactly something that can be directly proven. But the gist of the theory is this

every time there was an uprising, take Czech for example, USSR would send in the tanks as a show of force, and it was effective. Then Tiannem square happenend, and this photo became immortal.

In the years that followed there was a surge in protests, and instead of fighting tanks and throwing molotevs, people would walk up to the them unarmed, asking them to shoot them in cold blood. this can be seen in all across eastern europe and in moscow itself. The tankers wouldnt shoot unarmed civvies and the threat of the monster that is the state vanished overnight.

of course its not as simple as that, and gorbachev had his part to play but its an interesting theory.

i think i heard it presented in a tank documentary on netflix (its about tanks, and there are no tranny pedo tanks, so they couldnt pull their usual shit so its pretty good)

8 people "saw" the sarcasm in that comment but not the sarcasm in my second sentence. Or the irony in yours. That's not the explanation ... they're salty broke fucks who'd get rolled by a tank and they don't like it because they're about to give up some more of their second amendment. You know it, I know it, they know it.

Because peaceful protests don't work against people that will kill to get their way. If they set that bar, to beat them you have to be worse.

5
behemoth887 5 points ago +5 / -0

yeah that's why china doesn't mind this picture or the cropped picture being spread in the west, like it was on reddit which they own. libs see it and they feel good about it then move on. they don't know what happened after this. and when they find out they say immediately fall back to their shell of "that wasn't real communism!"

22
antiGen4z 22 points ago +23 / -1

Yes as we all know that one act saved china from communist takeover

32
tholins 32 points ago +32 / -0

Why do people seem to think the Tiananmen Square protests came at the beginning of China’s problems? (Not saying you do, but that is the inference of your statement, and I’ve seen it here before).

China had been subjected to decades of Communism at this point. Decades in which students and children had reported and condemned their elders en masse. Decades in which tens of millions starved to death peacefully. Decades in which nobody fought back in any meaningful way. Decades in which things like this weren’t seen as a problem. This only meant something because the populace needed it to.

My point is, the lesson of Communist China is that sometimes it takes a generation or two after the takeover for people to start pushing back. Sometimes it takes the brutality of cold experience to wake enough people up.

17
bangbus 17 points ago +17 / -0

Chiang Kai-Shek was the rightful leader of China. Dude hated commies more than Pinochet. Taiwan is the capital of China.

12
tholins 12 points ago +12 / -0

Yup. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to beat Mao after WWII.

12
DonJr24 12 points ago +12 / -0

Because Mao didn't pull his own weight in fighting the Japanese. He let Chiang Kai-Shek's forces do most of the fighting and dying so that by the time the war was over, they were exhausted and more easily beaten.

4
veritasvincit 4 points ago +4 / -0

Communists are master manipulators and will exploit you at any showing of weakness, then use it to destroy you.

11
Kriegson [S] 11 points ago +13 / -2

China has a history of suffering under totalitarian rule. America is the opposite. You don't need everyone to grab a rifle, you need people to resolve themselves for a fight. The Civil war was won before it was fought by 3% because the people had already resolved themselves to resist the empire that ruled them.

The problem is a modern tankman is not so simple. Ashli Babbit was gunned down and many probably don't even know her name, wouldn't blink an eye given the constant bombardment of violence and tragedy the media dumps on them daily. So what form of symbol is nonpartisan, impactful and the populace would largely agree with? That's what we need to provide.

3
NerBolanski 3 points ago +3 / -0

If you think the Media would help you with a good non-partisan figure, you are dreaming. We need to do two things at the same time;from gut fir our survival and also red-pill the young people. We also have to dominate the institutions the Left currently controls;the time for avoidance is actually over.

2
antiGen4z 2 points ago +4 / -2

I prefer to look at results than dreams. Standing and blocking a military convoy makes for great photo ops but did absolutely nothing. Communism took over china and is spreading across the globe like a cancer. Western banking cartels see the power the communists weild and wish to replicate it. Go stand in traffic and let me know when we are all safe from totalitarian technocracy.

9
muslimporn 9 points ago +9 / -0

If a US tank runs over a Trump supporter Trump supporters will be blamed for it. It wont have any impact. It'll be used as an excuse to go after Trump supporters even more for being violent getting a person killed. This is what they did in Tienanmen square and on the Capitol Hill.

It wouldn't convince the left wing of anything. Half the country will support the left wing no matter what. They'll clap and cheer if a Trump supporter is killed but at the same time say we need to go after these Trump supporters they got someone killed.

We're already seeing this kind of crazed mentality with extreme hypocrisy and self contradictory reasoning in the USA. The only way this ends is either in genocide or millions and millions dead. This kind of extreme propaganda and mass indoctrination is a genie you can't put back in the bottle.

Something that people on the left don't appreciate is that they have been successfully exploited by a hate campaign themselves. They rejoice in the death of Trump supporters. Not even based on any kind of sentiment based on reality either. They believe that Trump supporters are responsible for cops murdering black people in their sleep and that cops murdering Trump supporters is just deserts.

That's not an exaggeration.

6
JeremiahKassin 6 points ago +6 / -0

Moreover, this last election proves they don't actually need support. We're not citizens anymore. We're subjects of a tyrannical government that refuses to relinquish power to the people.

5
muslimporn 5 points ago +5 / -0

I would argue that this tyranny is beyond ideology, it is pure evil but it is the left that have sold out and screwed over everyone. They're not going to get any kickbacks. I think a lot of them think that if they just give the tyrants what they want they'll go away.

8
RememberKosciuszko 8 points ago +9 / -1

Instead of just standing in front of a tank stick a rifle through the visor

gLoWiE

No

In my country 10 years of civilian fighting and pressure with 1.5 years of martial law thrown in there just for kicks with approx 1-2 million people engaged toppled already established communism

It was already failing internationally but still.

Massive civilian opposition started for good in August 1980, Martial Law started in December 1981 and ended in July 1983.

People pulled through and finished the job through mostly peaceful pressure after that.

Yup. The Brits weren’t willing to be violent against Ghandi.

9
JeremiahKassin 9 points ago +9 / -0

The British Empire was concerned about maintaining the government mandate from the people of the UK. The people of the UK were more free then than we are now, because they still had actual influence over their leaders.

3
Isolated_Patriot 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes, no one ever shares the picture of what happened AFTER this.

Anyone who still thinks this is some paragon of civil disobedience and all the tanks just went home should search "tiananmen square dead bodies"

2
Lepreco-Inc 2 points ago +2 / -0

It is the paragon of civil disobedience. Knowing what comes next is important. Civil disobedience and elections didn’t make Ireland independent.

11
NavySTG 11 points ago +11 / -0

Dude died. Many more died. Nothing changed. Civil disobedience does absolutely ZERO. Rope and bullets do.

4
patriot68 4 points ago +4 / -0

Low-intensity conflict seems to be effective in our modern world. We're dealing with a manufactured cult mentality on the left. To deprogram a population we must gain full control of the mainstream media. Can CNN be gamestopped?

3
NavySTG 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm not sure Gamestop will be Gamestopped in the end.

11
TheCucksAreComing 11 points ago +11 / -0

I'm pretty sure the photo of 10,000 dead bodies shortly after, is the more powerful photo.

9
TheNotSoEvilEngineer 9 points ago +9 / -0

No, not really.. he died, the students died. Then they squished the bodies with tanks to the point where they could just wash the corpse juice down the drain. Communists didn't back down, they control the country to this day. If anything it shows that showing up and peacefully protesting gets you killed and does nothing to stop a dictatorial government.

4
patriot68 4 points ago +4 / -0

Consider what it means to shout out "China is asshoe!" while standing IN that country.

9
MAGAconvert 9 points ago +9 / -0

Okay, but immediately after that they threw him in a secret prison and then slaughtered everyone anyways.

6
Kriegson [S] 6 points ago +8 / -2

The same has happened to tens of thousands if not millions of people throughout history. The difference is that this man is still a symbol today. One that the Chinese government fears to the point that it is illegal to view.

9
MAGAconvert 9 points ago +9 / -0

That’s all well and good, but if we’re living under a tyrannical government 30 years from now I won’t care whether we failed to make some really cool symbols.

3
JeremiahKassin 3 points ago +4 / -1

The only way to avoid that is to form a new government.

4
wiombims 4 points ago +4 / -0

What is he a symbol of, exactly? This picture is shown to 12 yearolds in history books so they can feel better about their made-in-china sneakers and not ask questions about why the #1 trading partner to the US literally pancaked people in the street. There's a picture right after this picture btw. The same people are in charge. China didn't start feeling bad about what happened here and get better. People just decided they didn't want what happened here happening to them or their kids. If anything, this is a symbol of why you don't do what this man did. And judging by the censorship and antigun laws being passed all around the world, I'm starting to suspect this western bit of propaganda isn't so much "hey, look at what freedom can do if you fight for it" so much as it is "watch what we'll do to you here if you don't keep your nose to the grindstone".

3
b667 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes. But it's probably something along the lines of losing face. I think they are actually a bit ashamed to have done this. But the outcome is that they knocked the teeth from the masses for generations.

That being said, I personally think that unless there are exceptional circumstances the CCP will not let go. They are doubling down on control and invigilation. The chinese people will not see freedom in a long long time. Let's hope that at least Taiwan stays free.

7
PB_Mack 7 points ago +7 / -0

They put a bullet in his head, charged his family for the round, and still killed the movement. I stopped thinking this image was powerful in 1992. You know what would have been a lot more powerful? If everyone in the square had guns and did what they needed to do instead of kowtowing.

7
Seatacjoe 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yeah that picture is cool, but check out the other ones where the tanks ran over the other people and made sure to go over them over and over to then fire hose the remains down the drain.

3
RiverFenix 3 points ago +3 / -0

never seen those

1
Seatacjoe 1 point ago +1 / -0

This article doesn't have a lot of images but references that the wounded were begging for mercy and we're bayonetted and incinerated and washed down the drains. China reported 500 deaths, some total estimate 10k died in total. https://allthatsinteresting.com/tiananmen-square-massacre

6
LessAndLessIronic 6 points ago +6 / -0

Do you know what happens if a person attempts to stop a tank by standing in front of it? Absolutely nothing. You can find photographic proof of this taken shortly after the iconic photo above.

Human bodies do not stop tanks, and the resulting carnage does not stop communist regimes.

We aren't going to get our rights back by asking nicely.

-1
JeremiahKassin -1 points ago +1 / -2

It's as simple as not asking. We form our own government, and inform them we're no longer under their jurisdiction. If they attack, they have to worry about optics at that point. If they don't, we're free and clear.

4
patriot68 4 points ago +4 / -0

But optics is only as powerful as the ballot box. I think we're seeing that now.

  1. Nukes. If we have nuclear weapons, they're going to be a lot less likely to try sending in troops. Texas, as an independent nation, would have to obtain control of their nuclear arsenal as their first action.

  2. Recognition. Russia's not too happy with the US right now, so we ally with them, first. Putin might be a dictator, but he's based. Mexico, likewise, would benefit from a weakened United States, and would recognize us quickly. Brazil makes three, with Bolsonaro.

  3. Finances. We'd then need to establish a line of credit with another country, which shouldn't be too difficult with Texas' oil reserves. The main issue here is that we don't want to get involved with the World Bank if we can help it. Once we establish financial ties, though, we're on course.

  4. Convention. We use secure processes to elect officials to draft a new Constitution based on the old one, but with stronger language and stronger protections. We write those secure processes right into our founding documents.

4
Homemade-Soap 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well, yes and no. He was disappeared. Nobody in China is even aware of the Tiananmen incident anymore. It has an impact on us because it's inspiring. But Tank Man didn't change a damn thing for China.
