They listed the cause of death as COVID, even though he never tested positive for COVID. The family is heartbroken. To give this to the elderly is particularly dangerous.

As a scientist who has decades of experience with vaccines and immunology and works in the pharma/biotech sector, I can tell you - nobody gives a shit about science in HR. The C Suite cares about lawsuits, lost talent, lost work hours if anyone gets sick or dies.

There are tons of reasons why you might not get the vaccine.
I know of multiple businesses that will not reveal positive covid-19 cases among their staff due to "medical information privacy". This puts their employees at significantly greater risk. If those same companies turn around and demand that their employees be vaccinated, and that that information be made public, I'm probably going to lose my fucking mind.

What state are you in if you don’t mind me asking? Typically bluer states offer more protection for employees.
Even if money is tight it might be worth a 15 minute consultation with an attorney. If you ask for just 15 minutes instead of an hour you may find one willing to do it for around $100.
Don’t fall for using a religious exemption. There are cases out there where medical workers refused a flu shot and lost their jobs. Courts have decided the employer can fire you for that. The case I remember reading was a Muslim who didn’t want the flu shot due to it containing animal fat. She was terminated and lost her lawsuit so again might be worth the attorney consultation to find out legally what would keep an employer from mandating it. Good luck!

I would actually not say that. That is not as easily defensible (regardless of whether it should … we let that train leave the station a looooong time ago). What is defensible is that after you actually talk to ta doctor and consult with an employment attorney (even if it is just a consultation on the limits of HIPAA and whether he is a true believer or knows that the government is overreaching and tyrannical) that you will not comply on the grounds of medical privacy.

Ask them if someone gets seriously injured by the vaccine, will they sign a contract stating they will take care of them and their families financially for the rest of their lives?
If it is a large corporation I would talk to HR. HR's primary goal is not getting the company sued and her director is wandering into get the company sued territory. HR and legal should be throwing up huge red flags.
What if she says "I just got pregnant?" Now if she applies for any promotions and fails to get them she can claim they denied her based on her pregnancy and take them to court. Corporation vs pregnant woman looks extremely bad in the eyes of the jury.

Most companies don't want to be sued. If I were in your wife's position I would quote the untested nature of the vaccine as a concern and say something along the lines of the following.
"After doing research I don't think the potential risk of liability of us forcing an untested vaccine on our employees is worth it. We can avoid liability by making the vaccine available and optional to our employees. That way it is their choice and we can't be held liable for potential complications."

If she uses the medical condition excuse, she does not have to tell them what that condition is.

Have you talked to an employment attorney? That is an invasion of your medical privacy, i.e., HIPAA violation and also illegal employment practice. You will just need to find an attorney that is not a "true believer" and will actually defend you and represent your interests. About a 5 minute video talking about how the vaccine mRNA is, in essence, giving you an auto immune disease. Explains how when you come in contact with the actual virus, your immune system will recognize the virus proteins that the vaccine programmed your body to make that are now in every cell. Your immune system will then attack your organs leading to organ failure. The elderly and those with comorbidities will likely have a high death rate.

I work in health care and have been telling people, with the shortage of vaccines there are many people out there who need it more than I do. I'm healthy and not that old. I will wait till more are available. Give it to someone at risk.

Even if money is tight it might be worth a 15 minute consultation with an attorney. If you ask for just 15 minutes instead of an hour you may find one willing to do it for around $100.
Don’t fall for using a religious exemption. There are cases out there where medical workers refused a flu shot and lost their jobs. Courts have decided the employer can fire you for that. The case I remember reading was a Muslim who didn’t want the flu shot due to it containing animal fat. She was terminated and lost her lawsuit so again might be worth the attorney consultation to find out legally what would keep an employer from mandating it. Good luck!

If it is a large corporation I would talk to HR. HR's primary goal is not getting the company sued and her director is wandering into get the company sued territory. HR and legal should be throwing up huge red flags.
What if she says "I just got pregnant?" Now if she applies for any promotions and fails to get them she can claim they denied her based on her pregnancy and take them to court. Corporation vs pregnant woman looks extremely bad in the eyes of the jury.

Most companies don't want to be sued. If I were in your wife's position I would quote the untested nature of the vaccine as a concern and say something along the lines of the following.

My understanding of the legal stipulations around the vaccine is that the vaccine creators cannot be sued by people; they are completely legally absolved if something goes wrong. I believe this stipulation was put into place in order to allow these companies to get the vaccine to the public so much sooner. That alone is the reason why I would never take it.
