I think and hope maybe Texas has reached the point secession is a real possibility. To those that say nope or feds or never, read a history book on the American Revolution or the Texas revolution. The months and years leading to them clearly were filled with people saying never, nope, cant, and wont. Im not saying it will happen but at some point every thing becomes possible. People have to lose it all to wake up to new ideas. Every great separation of a country started with talks of it. It usually was shut down as people would say nope, not gonna happen, cant happen, we will be attacked, and shouldnt happen. Then they get tyrannized to a point that makes those opposing it say its time and leadership emerges and starts the process. It take courage and strength to face the unknown. But we are Texans this is not new for us!!!!!

The problem isn't force, it's money. Texas can't afford to secede with the US's blessing, not could it afford to concede after the sanctions the US would impose against it if they did so without.

To a point i agree, but as it stands we are the 10th to 12th largest GDP in the world. But we have more bargaining power as we have the second larges exporting port in the country and half the oil refined in the country happens here. Not to mention the influence we have world wide based on the 2 points made above we would hurt at first but would strive and im going to go on a limb and say possibly beat the U.S. GDP with in 2 years of secession.

The problem is you start on a huge hole.like how much do you think it would cost Texas to buy the Houston NASA campus? All the government buildings? The interstate, the dams, the communications infrastructure - the US government isn't going to let that go for free, right?

Well in times like these i do believe they would just be seized. Your thinking from a normal life as usual 1 year ago mentality. If facing socialism the game changes. And you must look at it from a bargaining point we ship out 50 percent of the goods from the U.S if they push to hard we raise the fees to transport from our ports. Yes they can add on to their ports but the cost and time and the reaching out to make deals to get goods in and out at good prices wood be too much for them. Not to mention on top of our own electric grid we produce a little under a 3rd of the electric to the other power grids out side of texas. Plus we have the largest national guard total out of all the states and many millions more ready to stand with them. We also have our own navy as part of the guard independent of the coast guard. And i have not even gotten to the beef and oil sold world wide and to the rest of the nation
