Local to me, several yesrs ago, power company gave out cfl and then led light bulbs for free to their customers. Fast forward to the next year, same power company says they have to raise their rates due to lost profit from people conserving energy....

Yeah, funny how a business that goes out of its way to discourage people from using its product struggles. I see the same thing in my area even today. So many billboards telling people to turn of their lights, turn down their AC... so stupid.

In Seattle the corrupt government made it illegal for anyone to use other forms of power so that everyone is forced to buy from the government controlled Electric Utilities. And then magically all the rates started to sky rocket!!

Then, when people started cutting back to save money, and they weren't getting as much they changed the billing practices to not be based on how much you used, but a flat fee for the service and then extra charges if you use over your allotment

When the local government seized control, we started to look for places closer to where we are from in the midwest. When all the big money smeared the mayoral candidate who wanted city wifi AFTER their councilmen just ran on the same platform, we decided to get the heck out of dodge.

Remember a few years back during the drought โ€œwe must cut water usage by 40%!โ€, 3 months later โ€œgood job we exceeded what was asked, hereโ€™s a water rate SPIKEโ€

The rage is real

Expect it to rise more as cost of operations increases. Higher gas prices means the cost of maintenance and repair will go up, as well as higher costs for anything new. Higher natural gas prices will be coming to raise generation costs and heating costs too.

Yet all I keep hearing from the Xiden supporters is how much they "care about" the poor who will be the first to suffer and will suffer the most. Every time I think they've hit the lowest level of the IQ scale, they find a way to go lower.

Electric costs go up around 5% each year here. China owns the electric company. I just switched to solar because I want to be energy independent. Unfortunately energy independence isn't practical or even possible in most places.

You know, here in China the cost of utilities are much lower.

And the amount of pollution in the air is much greater. Also, you canโ€™t drink the water out of your tap.

It is called trade-offs, folks.
