Northern European seamen could buy "slave ensurance" when they were sailing through the Mediterranean. It would "buy them back" in case they got enslaved by Muslims.
No idea why that large part of history of slavery is never taked about anywhere.
There are groups of modern, progressive Muslims all over the world, who don't take take everything about their religion litterally. Just like modern Christians. We should do much more to support those groups and stop supporting the radicals.
