My understanding is it's more like (and this is all theories with only partial proof AFAIK) Aryan people immigrated out of India into roughly Persia, those same people later moved on to Northern Europe over time.

You can see this legacy in our language, English is part of the Indo-European branch of languages https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-European_languages
