Or the law firm is a bunch of jackasses hiring law-school graduates as secretaries because they can get them dirt-cheap.
The lady of the house was a legal secretary until the glut of grads hit the job market and were happy to mop the office's floor for less than her salary. (Though admittedly, this was some years ago.)
Yep, most of the new attorneys type up the documents. They have no idea how bad they are -- typos, grammatical errors, and formatting. Yes, formatting matters. In the 'old' days, legal secretaries (good ones) were not just mindlessly hitting keys. We were proofreading and editing and watching for consistency errors.
Hope your lady of the house is doing something fun and fulfulling now. I'm a freelance writer and lovin' it!
Umm, the secretaries are the ones who type up the documents, not the actual lawyers.
False! A lot of attorneys type their own documents now. One of the primary causes of typos in my opinion and based on years of working with attorneys.
