SN8 had a problem with the bypass thing which is why the landing was fouled. In the SN9 landing footage the announcer said they'd do it with 2 engines and clearly only 1 of the engines was firing. Prior to this there were pieces of engine shooting out on the video.
Im guessing they had a reasonable assumption that a crash would happen but went ahead with it anyway for the data.
Fun to see this on here. I actually think that space - and especially private sector space can be a big factor in conservative politics moving forward.
First, SpaceX is clearly a Trump era win, and private sector is here to stay. His policies for moon-then-mars and funding for space, and reduction of red tape at FAA, EPA, and NASA paved the way for this progress. SpaceX shows how lean private industry is better than entrenched bureaucracy at developing rockets. There's a place for NASA, but SLS is Apollo tech and moving sooo much slower than SpaceX.
Second, almost everybody can get behind the idea of space. It's a populist platform agenda. Sure, some object on grounds that funding may be better spent on XYZ, but that's where conservatives have an edge: public funds are limited, but that's why we want to incentivize private sector space initiatives and build a marketplace. Space tourism, commercial launch, and even mining are now on our horizon and if government facilitates when appropriate and then stays out of the way, we will launch whole new industries.
Third, America is first in this area. Russia is flying old rockets, and everybody is way behind our tech. If Biden doesn't screw it up or sell it to China, we're set to return to the moon, send men to mars, and start up several industries around space.
For all those that care more about spending more money on local initiatives than space just remember that space is where out economic future and freedom is at.
Mining asteroids and colonizing space is what will help our planet the most. Our Solar System is incredibly rich. 16 Psyche is just one of the asteroids in our Solar System that has an estimated 10 quintillion dollars worth of Iron and Nickel, enough to collapse the world economy several times over and again, that's just ONE asteroid.
Space is our future and companies like SpaceX and the America First movement is what's required to ensure chynah doesn't monopolize space for themselves.
Oh he'll fuck it up royally. He'll simply say, these private sector goons would be no where without NASA. They got rich off the backs of tax payers, its time these companies paid their fair share. That's why I plan on taking these private rockets 100% on all profits. Come on man
I don't see him losing any day and he's still in office. The only losers are the American people for letting a criminal rule the country. Fucking pathetic.
Opinions vary on him. To be honest I don’t fully trust him… There are people who are worse and right now his purposes align with ours, but it stay that way? I don’t know. And neither do though you’re entitled to your opinion... as are the people who like him.
lol...my response to that anatomic shape of the rocket is, "If it was shaped like female genitals, it wouldn't be very aerodynamic."
No, it wasn't supposed to crash and blow up, but it's not unexpected because this the second real flight and they had a pressurization issue on the last flight. This flight included a potential fix, but it doesn't appear to have worked (or something else happened).
Looks like they need to give it more time to transition for landing. If it had just a few more feet it would have finished the transition and had time to stabilize.
they need to switch to vertical using thrusters much higher up, rather than reignite main engines mid way through the swing. that caused the over-swing, and the failure of reignition.
No freefall momentum lost, and a belly flop into the desert sand.
I completely missed that. So it probably would have nailed the landing if that engine stayed lit. Maybe they should just go with all 3 during landing for redundancy.
It’s stainless steel, good thermal and structural qualities. The finished product is projected to have tiles covering it, giving it a much more synthetic look.
One of the engines did not fire when it was returning to verticle position. If its just one of the engines, that is a good thing, because those are modular, they can be fixed quickly.
It seems like they fired too late too. Perhaps the one engine makes all that difference but they seemed to fire and then just a split second later the rocket hit the ground.
they fired on time, we thought the same thing with SN8. the problem here was that because the 2nd engine didn't relight it didn't have enough thrust to counter act the rotation.
I noticed that too. They'll need to add some check that fires them at low thrust just to verify function and then switch to the reserve engine if one fails to light.
Lovely bit of CGI there, FakeX! Lol. This crap would end up on the cutting room floor for South Park.
You're welcome to drive down and watch. You are so last year.
Amazing. Keep it up.
Everyone do yourself a favor.. buy as much tsla as you can, buy til it hurts and hold. Give your kids an amazing future. Please do it.
Fly high. Fall fast. SpaceX
Why do all rockets look like penises? We need a vagina rocket they could call it a V1.......wait
Physics is sexist because penises are clearly the best aerodynamic shape for a rocket
I always run without pants and an erection.
Just got to work on that landing a little bit'
Yeah sure, just a little less explody
Lmao it blew up again
So a rinse and repeat of SN8?
SN9 went much higher before making its crater

Do you know how much these cost?
Cheap compared to other launch vehicles.
Check out these two videos linked in another comment.
One of them compares the costs of various launch vehicles.
Well its completely made out of stainless steel so it doesn't cost that much when compared to your traditional rocket
It was going great until it went full Biden...
Never go full Biden.
True, last time it truly happened... Clown World surged to power. ;)
Meanwhile Bezos' spaceship still looks like a gigantic dick.
This is what a true African-American accomplishment looks like
If only the looked just a little more like cocks we may be able to send people like Schiff out of here
Wonderful,,,What could possibly go wrong....?
They've got FAA up in their grille now, we're about to find out.
Bitchute, Rumble, SpaceX website... ANYWHERE other than Youtube.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/sciencetech/video-2346978/Video-SpaceX-launches-Starship-SN9-test-flight-safety-delays.html
Wait till that video finishes and you can watch others of the flight, like the Boom at the end.
Looks like Bender's buttplug.
i mean it does look like big mikes vibrator
“Everything looked good but we need to work on that landing just bit.”
Imagine having a job where you destroy spaceships for research.
That guy that sweeps for fires afterwards though? He sounded defeated. 🤣 🔥😔
You have to wonder at what point the boss fire them for destroying them on purpose?
It was absolutely incredible 99% of the way
It was a test flight, not a test landing. Crash and burn was intentional.
I’m sure they were ok with a crash, but to think they didn’t want to land that baby is mistaken.
I don't think it was intentional, they did try to land, but the crash wasn't unexpected.
I'm sorry. What part wasn't incredible?
Looks like a Dick
That reminds me of Hugo Chavez from Tales from the Borderlands(office scene First chapter).
And the silo is the balls
Thick n Quick
It’s very girthy.
That sudden stop at the end needs some work 😂
Just need to lower the ground some.

You forget the Communist motto(okay one of them anyways):
Destroy that which you cannot control.
Angara is quite new, and it doesn't even matter whether they're old when they're cheap and reliable.
Oh he'll fuck it up royally. He'll simply say, these private sector goons would be no where without NASA. They got rich off the backs of tax payers, its time these companies paid their fair share. That's why I plan on taking these private rockets 100% on all profits. Come on man
That last “if” is a pretty big one. It’s more like an Obama “if if if if if if if if if if if if.”
Sneak-peek at Disney's new Star Wars movie.
It needs to crash and burn a lot bigger than that to be a Disney SW film these days.
kek
well that didn't go well
It went very well. It was a flight test, not a landing test.
I stand better informed
You’re fine :) didn’t want to sound mean, this test was to get the rocket horizontal and then back upright. The first half of that went well lol
https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/02/02/spacex-starship-sn9-explodes-on-attempted-landing.html
1940’s Japan pilots and 2001 Saudi Arabians entered the chat
I think they wanted to land it also.
I'm glad you're looking on the bright side
Defeatism is a self fulfilling prophecy. Can’t let it win, my folks.
Space is hard...No shame here. Just the audacity to even try is a remarkable accomplishment. Carry on SpaceX. You'll stick the next one.
SN10 will be the golden one, just watch.
Can't wait for How not to land a rocket: Part 2
Probably SN15. New tech so they scrapped 11-14.
Ah, didn't know that. I need to get back into watching them like I used to.
Please be the new Air Force 1...
Would you Ride it?
I'll wait for SN13 to buy a seat.
Now that is a lucky number!
What are you talking about? This is a video of the Biden administration.
I don't see him losing any day and he's still in office. The only losers are the American people for letting a criminal rule the country. Fucking pathetic.
This forum is about America. Space is critical for the future. No one is asking you to suck Musk's knob.
Hell...even Trump had to work with the swamp to get good things done.
Opinions vary on him. To be honest I don’t fully trust him… There are people who are worse and right now his purposes align with ours, but it stay that way? I don’t know. And neither do though you’re entitled to your opinion... as are the people who like him.
I'm not seeing support for him though. At least not in this post.
Oops
Turns out rockets are hard and landing them is even harder.
It’s actually on a sliding scale from easy to hard. Depends on how much rocket you want left after the landing.
Directed by Michael Bay.
Looks safe enough.
I’d say this was a successful test. Now they know what not to do next time!
That looks way too much like a giant, fat cock. I can't stand this toxic masculinity! Reeeee!!!
Seriously, cool launch, tho. Was it supposed to crash and blow up at the end?
lol...my response to that anatomic shape of the rocket is, "If it was shaped like female genitals, it wouldn't be very aerodynamic."

“Work on that landing a little bit”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YFU4KaJSSc
Excuse me sir. It's black history month. But you're posting videos of a white African American and his space company tests?
It would be more appropriate to post videos of Somali and Zimbabwean space industry efforts.
You're Hitler.
Elon Musk is African, so it's all good
“Not black enough to not be racist. You ain’t black,” says the racist.
He was such a good doggo...
Okay I am seeing A LOT of people that have many misconceptions about how Starship is supposed to work...
Here is a great video from Everyday Astronaut that should answer a lot of questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8p2JDTd13k
Very good video!
and here is one comparing Starship to NASA's SLS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA69Oh3_obY
Did he say liquid nothing lol
flying grain silo go BOOOOM!!!!
That's a pig crap silo belonging to homer j Simpson thank you very much.
So close.
Why it looks like a giant...
I know Brain, but pencils don't fly.
Johnson! What is that? It kinda reminds me of a.....
Dick....Get in here, you that thing is shaped like a.....
Willie...look at that thing up there it looks just like a big old...
Pecker! Wait, that's not a woodpecker. It looks like someone's...
Privates! We have reports of an unidentified flying object. It looks like a long smooth shaft complete with...
Testes,1, 2, 3, testicles. Roger, I have you the same.
More like One Hung Lo
Looks like they need to give it more time to transition for landing. If it had just a few more feet it would have finished the transition and had time to stabilize.

No freefall momentum lost, and a belly flop into the desert sand.
Played Kerbal enough to know that at least.
Okay, so at least I wasn't the only person who thought "belly flop" at the end there.
I was about to call you out for Kerbalogy, but you outed yourself.
Saying its a header tank issue possibly, same as last time, having timing issues lighting from those tanks after free fall.
The second engine failed to relight, so momentum was the killer.
I completely missed that. So it probably would have nailed the landing if that engine stayed lit. Maybe they should just go with all 3 during landing for redundancy.
Third time's the charm maybe
Cool looking rocket. Has that 60's science fiction look.
It’s stainless steel, good thermal and structural qualities. The finished product is projected to have tiles covering it, giving it a much more synthetic look.
Tiles on the side that will hit the atmosphere.
your moms fat booty about to hit the atmosphere
Another Kaboom! Great flight for a while though
I am not sure why but I cried when it blew up
I know that failure is just part of the process
but I know how much people put into a project like this :(
They didn't fail. This is testing. They got their data and they'll improve the landing process. Since they did get the data, it was a success!
Don't feel bad. They don't! This is part of the process.
They got lots of great data.

How do you teach a single rocket to land itself?
You crash about a dozen of them along the way.
A sad, but very common outcome for SpaceX; a milestone in and of itself in a way.
Welcome to the SpaceX family Starship :)
I want to see a supercut with yackety sax
Like this?
Fuck, yes, exactly like that. Appreciate you fren. Thanks for the link.
Exactly. Blow up or it it’s progress for sure.
Well that's just fun to watch! Not as emotion inducing as the first run of Falcon Heavy with Starman and the Tesla on board, but still! Very cool
It never gets old! and, heaven help me, if ever DOES get old then shame on me!
USA! USA! USA! USA!
That must have been amazing to experience; probably more so during Apollo than now. But perhaps it comes sort of close.
Pretty impressive, just need to work out the issues with landing it.
:D
Was "landing" like that part of the test?
yes, they push to failure then improve.
well yes if part of the test is two engines coming back online to return the vehicle to vertical
when only one does? fresh crater
Yep, looked like the second engine just fizzled a bit.
GME stonk today.
