With so much of our military dependent on GPS Satellites (a US military asset that you use when you turn on google maps, btw) for tracking the movement of troops, trucks, carrier groups; and of course much of our ability to communicate between say, the joint cheifs in DC with a carrier fleet on the other side of the worlds, also dependent on satelites, maybe having a military branch specialized in space would be a great first line of defense against, say, an advanced enemy aggressor (not using caveman tech like ISIL) like China. China has been stealing and buying all our military tech since the 90's when Bill Clinton was President. If you don't think they've analyzed our weaknesses and identified our satelite system as a PRIME target for hobbling our military's organization and communication, then you're not smart enough for Space Force.
Besides the defensive aspect, how about offensive space technology. Killer Satellites are already very real and probably top secret, but aside from mounting ballistic weapons, lasers and EMP are both excellent weapons to be deployed against satellites in space. Damnit, we need to be on the cutting edge of this sort of thinking; because the Chicoms already are. They're the evil corrupt bastards stealing our secrets, and our intelligence agencies have long since been compromised and neutered - we haven't been on offense in this New Cold War and for all you and I know we're behind in the new space arms race.
I could keep going, but I hope this changes your mind.
I never said Space was not a front. But Space Force? How can I take that seriously? All they did was take the USAF Space Command and spin it into a separate Service with a gay flag. We should be going the other way. The USAF should be re-absorbed into the Army. The USAF is barely a military branch as it is. Now they're lending their heritage to anther new branch? They'll never be taken seriously as a legit military power.
