The arts department's badly explained name change isn't nearly as consequential, but it's still emblematic of a school district caught in the throes of far-left orthodoxy. If VAPA was a confusing name, then the district was perfectly justified in changing it. There's no need to cloak this mundane and reasonable decision in social justice gobbledygook.

my thoughts exactly

fwiw the new name is succinct, the rest is virtue signalling

This also demonstrates why MAGA should be running for school boards.

I mean, if using the word ‘visual’ and ‘performing’ to describe what kind of arts department it is makes it virtue signaling then so is every place that’s ever had a description in its name.

What’s better about VAPA as an acronym is it rolls off the tongue while reminding you what kind of arts department it is. As a acronym, dare I say, VAPA is succinct and the SFUSD is like a clusterfuck of letters that goes nowhere.
