The only way I would trust a digital election is if they had block chain technology to prevent it from being hacked. Otherwise paper ballots are the only thing we can trust.

Sweden: 10 million people, almost cashless, almost every government interaction is made digitally, still 100% paper voting with ID because machines cannot be trusted.

Yes and currently Canada has 38 million people and national elections are done all on paper ballots with vote counting done by hand. No problems.

Do you think Trudeau is legitimate? I thought certain areas used dominion ?

The individual parties' leadership races use voting machines and there have been questionable results from them.

General elections use paper ballots as per federal law.

Aside from the crappy political beliefs of most Canadians. I'm in NZ, btw, we're no better :(

Canuck pede checking in.

One thing about my country that actually works is the elections.

  • run by a nonpartisan government bureaucracy - no fuckery with private contractors
  • paper ballots. X by your preferred candidate(s) and that's all
  • ID required to vote, voter rolls are kept. I at one point had to double back hone to retrieve a utility bill to prove I lived at my current address when my ID didn't match (moved about a month prior.) I was still in the same goddam riding!
  • at poll closing time the count happens immediately and efficiently: by bedtime everyone knows what the next government looks like

American elections are barely that anymore - as proven in November, so so many opportunities and avenues for meddling.

No reason at all the number of counters can’t just increase in line with the population.

The only reason not to count by hand is because cheating on a significant scale would require a conspiracy of thousands of people.

They also had way more god loving, moral people help with the counting.

But you have to delay the count until you know how many more ballots you need to overcome the lead from all the red counties!

He who counts last, counts longest
