I know donating blood in itself is a great thing for those who need it, but if I have COVID antibodies will donating blood be able to transfer any of those antibodies?
Currently suffering this WuFlu joke.... couple cold sweats at night and a fever from time to time and that’s about it
Convalescent plasma is what you're looking for.
So I take it that donating my plasma with these antibodies would be a benefit
I'd honestly have to check the efficacy. I haven't had good anecdotal results with it, but I know it's an approved treatment modality at hospitals. I think there is a delay in many cases due to scarcity as well as required blood type matching. All I know is that it wouldn't hurt to donate, but I think you would want to ensure they are doing it for the express purpose of getting the convalescent plasma for COVID-19 tx.
I had The Coof and now donate Convalescent Plasma. I got a t-shirt and a free appetizer from Ruby Tuesday. No money, but seriously if it helps someone so desperately sick I'll be that 'hero.'
The donation center assured me that the plasma is in demand. They actually return your platelets to your body so you don't walk out tired. Takes less than an hour to help end this stupid shutdown bullshit.
If you get the vaccine you are disqualified from donating Convalescent Plasma. Long Live the Herd.
That’s good to hear! Now I just need to know which donation center as the best interest of the patients rather then best interest of highest bidder (hospitals/institutions)
At the plasma center near me, they put you on a special program if you have antibodies and pay you a fuck-ton more per donation.
