Increasing supply doesn't mean the value remains.

Very true!

But they don't publish that part - they just spend $68-odd million of taxpayers hard-earned,

every

single

day!

Long before supply were glutted, $billions to be made. And will be.

There is also the issue of manufacturing in space, where virtually unlimited sun is available for energy and near absolute zero temps available in the shade for superconducting quantum computers and such of virtually unlimited size.

Asteroid mining is a good thing.

You need a lot of shielding /hardening to protect the electronics, but it's definitely worth it once you get to the scales they're talking here.

Also, if you build spaceships in space then you avoid the costs of lifting all that material into space - which is one of the most expensive parts. This unlocks some seriously cool shit.

We need Space Force to keep law and order for all the Belters.

You know, there is unfortunately small problem in space about... cooling.

Yes,I said cooling. It is vacuum so heat is lost only by radiation because almost no convection or conduction.

Yes, radiative cooling is common for spacecraft. No limit to the size of radiative coolers and fortunately some of those asteroid metals are excellent heat conductors & radiators.

Heat retention will be an advantage for smelting of metals.
