If global warming was a real threat, that would be the way to deal with it. There are some heavy-hitting cost-effective (relatively) ways of dealing with Global Warming, like sea-seeding or sun-shields. But if you actually propose to do that they'll reeeeee about possible consequences. They don't want actual solutions, the situation at this point does not need fixing, they just want a crisis so they can take control and tax industry even more.
