When pointing this out to people, they seem to fully understand "how much it still reduces your chances" (unlike you who's not even trying!!) but shut their mouths and minds about the 97%+ survivability rate. Funny thing, numbers.

It is way more survivable than 97%. That's just the overinflated numbers they give us. On October 5th the WHO estimated 10% of the world's population caught coronavirus. If you divide the 1,037,801 deaths by the 779 million people (10% of the worlds population on October 5, 2020 that gives a death rate of 0.133%. And that's assuming that every person that died with covid died from covid. That number, according to the CDC, can be as low as 6%, which if true, would mean that covid has a death rate of .008%. I believe the .133% number is a bit more accurate, but it definitely isn't 97%.
