I walked into a liquor store without a mask. The guy comes out from the back room and says "you got a mask?" in a demanding way. I say "you want my business, or not?", and he says "yeah..." in a defeated sounding tone. I get some whiskey and say thanks, and that was it.
Small businesses should be ignoring this nonsense, but maybe he watches a little too much TV.
You're not an American, much less a rational American.
When someone tells an American to do something the American doesn't want to do, the American says, "Fuck off."
LOL. Rich. Your ignorance is spreading communism; mine would end it. I'll take mine.
‘Just doing what I must to survive’ can be used to justify the complete surrender of all liberty.
I feel sorry for small business owners in the same way I feel sorry for the police officers and military who now find themselves propping up an illegitimate regime, but we’re living in a time where everyone is going to have to pick a side.
Yeah biggest thing is that what they're doing is protesting by about the same amount of those autistic kids screeching thinking they're actually doing something by going "I can't breath" and "I'm not wearing a dirty rag or diaper on my face!" and similar.
The way to protest it is to jump the shark. I'm talking full on hazmat (or hazmat like) suit, storm trooper armor or similar. Get a bunch of buddies together. start spaying stuff down with sanitize etc. Make Masks Scary Again. You wanna snap them out of it, you've got to make them actually afraid of masks.
Yes. Complicity with tyranny is a choice. Living on one’s knees is a choice. Nobody said preserving a free society would be easy or require no sacrifice. We have seen many examples of businesses risking everything to defy lockdown orders and stay open, so courage isn’t as unthinkable as you make out. If nobody ever risked anything to stand up to tyranny we would still be living in serfdom.
And yes I would absolutely blame the illegitimate government for any consequences the business owners suffer.
Maybe there would be more action if people like you didn’t seek to justify inaction?
