That’s funny and all that, but no. There are many many many many many parents who can’t afford anything better than public schools. That’s very unfortunate. I know many parents who are in a situation where teachers are pretty much checked out. Their kids are suffering, greatly, they’re going to end up losing almost 2 full years of ANY education, even for as mediocre as it would’ve been. No. This never should’ve stood. Ever. We should’ve fought this tooth and nail and we didn’t. Yes parents can do more to interfere and help out at home, get their kids a better education, of course we know that. But you also do realize that there are some parents who are horrible, or not very intelligent, or not very organized, many of them are even well-meaning but incompetent. It’s unfair for their kids. And we allowed this.
Did you know that kids in elementary school rely on SEEING mouth movements to learn how to speak properly? Masks are even interfering with that. Hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of children are behind in their speech development because of masks. We never should’ve allowed this to happen. Ever. We should have fought and we didn’t. In fact our own “representatives” all of them, I’m excusing no one, not even the White House, rolled over and played along with the hysteria. Nothing that has taken place in the last four years is more damaging than what is taking place with coronavirus lies and hysteria. Nothing.
You make a very powerful point. I know all of this and share your outrage. My flippant comment was meant to point out the awful brainwashing that happens in schools, but your point is easily more important.
Ya the issue is younger children. Once reading abilities are decent, textbooks are better at teaching than most teachers. Just takes more dedication and hard work.

We failed the children.
