they stole the election, but they had to cheat so hard to do it that they exposed themselves. their lackys had to cover for them equally hard, and so they got exposed too. compounding this, biden and his admin are complete idiots. controllable idiots(which is why he/they were selected for this), but still idiots.

so here we have an entire administration that couldn't govern its way out of a paper bag and a massive tech and media faction puffing them up after they've all been exposed to be frauds. it's not going to be pretty for them going forward. lucky for them, they're too stupid to notice.

Just because someone is a professor doesn't make them intelligent. Actually a lot of people in Academia aren't really that intelligent. The smart ones go private sector because other people find value in them. Professorship is often the end of the road for deadbeats who couldn't make it in the private sector.

63
Jackietreehorn 63 points ago +63 / -0

As the saying goes, "those who cannot do, teach." it doesn't apply to everyone but it's more often than not.

19
Brucesky420 19 points ago +19 / -0

This is so god damn true. My best engineering professors were usually 65+, and spent all those years before becoming a professor actually working their fucking asses of.

Actual real world experience will beat the fuck out of people who only learn in a classroom. Hence why experience is one of the biggest factors for getting a job. My boss says he hates hiring people who are out of college and have never worked a day in their life, you spend more time unteaching them than you do getting anything done for the first year or two.

For those of you in college right now, get an internship any time you can and work your ass off. Work experience is a stronger foundation for your career than your classroom hours.

HockeyMom4Trump 7 points ago +7 / -0

And those that can’t teach, teach college

28
ChikfilaFan 28 points ago +28 / -0

Academics , especially in the social "sciences", may have an autistic knowledge of woke mythology and be able to regurgitate its dogma in a manner and vocabulary that provides the appearance of intelligence.

However, I would prefer to listen to a juvenile autistic share other mythologies whose prophets, gods, and edicts aren't completely retarded.

7

2

5
King5150 5 points ago +5 / -0

i find it very funny how those in Academia can rapidly recite the school/college and university HR laws Chapter and Verse yet are awkwardly retarded in real world matters. If one didn't know any better you'd think they were addicted to authority and have become the cheerleaders for it.

6
Kweebecker 6 points ago +6 / -0

If someone can instantly recite HR laws, I don't trust them.

I have a generally good idea of the laws, but 99% of laws that aren't financial or tax in nature are basically just "be a reasonable person". I know where to go to look up legal interpretations and applications, but memorize them myself? Not a chance. Anyone who has MEMORIZED any significant amount of the laws is planning to use them for evil. Anyone: Lawyers have legal secretaries that look up what they loosely remember. Yeah, even LAWYERS don't memorize the laws.

Ask you professor is they know how oil is currently shipped from Canada.

answer: Burlington Northern

How much does Burlington Northern make per barrel? $30

How much to transport via XL? $10

Who owns Burlington Northern? Berkshire Hathaway

How much will they lose per year? 1 Billion

Who owns Berkshire Hathaway? Warren Buffet

Who did Warren Buffett donate too? DUH!

Which is more environmentally sound and efficient?

A. Oil flowing through a pipe using pump stations where needed

Or

B. Diesel trains from Canada plus oil tankers shipping oil from the Middle East and Venezuela.

You got facts... They have emotions. Fuck their feelings

But if feel you about most colleges. In 2016, I was in grad school and in every class I had following the election, each professor basically had a funeral for Hilary so they could talk about their feelings.

16
daty_dato 16 points ago +16 / -0

What these leftists feel is that the pipeline will slow or eliminate our use of oil. They may have in passing thought about the trucks but they don't understand that eliminating this pipeline isn't going to stop ONE drop of oil from moving from the fields to the refinery. They can't understand how higher oil/gas prices hurt the working poor the most. They are more then naive, they are willfully dumb.

12
kyblugrass 12 points ago +12 / -0

Yeah, they largely think of oil only as a fuel source for trucks and SUVs, maybe under it role in home heating oil, but have no understanding of its used in fertilizers, lubricants, plastics and other materials and chemicals in products they use day to day. They really are net consumers in every sense of the word.

5
Frog_Anne 5 points ago +5 / -0

Plus, they don't know the only reason we've been going back and forth on this pipeline in the first place is because Buffett doesn't want it built - he owns the trains that transport the oil now, and spill the oil regularly - and he's paid lots of bribes to get that pipeline shut down. Nothing to do with green policies, just green money.

15
h4b1t 15 points ago +15 / -0

There goes their grade. Do not question the professor.

14
jubyeonin 14 points ago +14 / -0

13
consumptiveballerina 13 points ago +13 / -0

Not oil-related...

But I'm doing a master's program online, and I just finished a Zoom meeting with one of my instructors. I say "instructor," because I believe the word "professor" is reserved for people with Ph.Ds. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. But the best college instructors I've had have been people who, instead of spending an extra 8 or 10 years in school to get some useless letters after their name, went out and got actual jobs in the industry and went into teaching 20 or 30 years later. For the most part, I think, college just prepares you for more college, instead of preparing you to get a job.

7
AedraLord 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yep. I'm about to finish my civil engineering bachelors degree and I know jack shit about the real world. My internship taught me more.

3
BarackObongo 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ain't that the truth, fellow EE pede here. Half our cohort couldn't point out a capacitor on a board.

11
Trumpy_Bear 11 points ago +11 / -0

The best answer is that preventing the price from going too low restricts the burning of fossil fuels, which is better from global warming.

If a leftie is smart enough to respond that to you, then you ask why not follow the science and end global warming once and for all by switching to nuclear across the board. Mention that France is all nuclear and they're just fine

6
kyblugrass 6 points ago +6 / -0

I believe France supplies a lot of the base load power for Germany which has extensive solar power systems in its grid.

7
Sporadica 7 points ago +7 / -0

Not really, Germany shut down nuclear because the greens are scared after Fukushima. They just replaced their nuke with coal. Germany produces a shit load of Nat gas and coal but it's more profitable to sell those to their west and import from the east. 2/3 of German gas is sold to Iberia and BENELUX and imports Russian gas for cheap, banking the difference.

Now that has security issues as Russia can just shut Germany out in the winter and cause utility bills to go up 40%.

I believe in solar and wind but there needs to be better tools for storage and to prevent duck billing. I also love nuke of course.

4
kyblugrass 4 points ago +4 / -0

Huh, learn something everyday. I think solar and wind can be great supplemental power sources. Especially at the residential level, as a way to cut power grid usage and a backup when the grid goes down. But there really is no cost effective batteries for home home use right now (I think Tesla has one but is somewhere near $80k last I checked.)

If you dig a little into home power systems, there some absolutely heroic battery bank systems some home owners have put together back in the 80's and 90's.

2
Sporadica 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've spoken to politicians in my Canada and a lot of them are understanding.

On a grand scale it's more effective to just subsidize the use of more efficient appliances and have demand control, demand is a killer on grids, it's why they charge such penalties for demand spikes and incorrect power factor.

I've consulted with clients who've been able to say 500k a year because they installed a 100k capacitor bank that reduced their power factor error. the ROI on that is way way way more effective than subsidizing solar or wind to generate more.

Our grid is ridiculously inefficient, inductive loads namely motors have such an impact on this. It's easier to not generate in the first place than it is to add generation.

Nuke and water should be baseload, wind and solar can be good with battery storage, wind is actually amazing if you can build it tall enough (at a certain height the wind blows constantly, at that point it's as reliable as nuke and water, like in the north sea for Denmark and Germany), and gas and coal can be a backup for demand spikes since it only takes a few minutes to get them online compared to nuke, nukes take a week to change their output capacity.

ok nerd rant over lol.

Reminds me of a conversation I overheard between two women outside of a tai chi class I attended. One was boasting about her new electric car, and how her driving was now "emission free". She was so proud of herself until I mentioned that the environmental impact of the mining required to produce the lithium ion batteries was far greater than that caused by internal combustion engines, and that child labor is involved. It wiped the smug smile off her face.

3
TakenusernameA 3 points ago +3 / -0

And that all the electricity for said car either comes from coal plants or from even dirtier solar or water.

0
UwUwU 0 points ago +1 / -1

Thats just straight up wrong, pretty much everyone agrees that electric cars are better for the environment

1
Jabblemonkey1 1 point ago +1 / -0

No, they don't.

The production process is extremely damaging to the environment, and the power to charge them comes from fossil fuels, usually.

Research mining in the places where they are gathering the rare earth elements and you will see.

1
UwUwU 1 point ago +1 / -0

I understand that electric cars are not clean, Im saying theyre cleaner than regular cars.

1
Jabblemonkey1 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's not the operation of electric cars that causes environmental damage, it is the mining and processing of the rare earth metals used in the batteries, and the manufacturing process that cause the environmental damage.

The use of child and slave labor in the places where the rare earth elements are mined is another reason for us to continue using fossil fuels.

1
UwUwU 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you bothered to look at what I asked you to you'd see that they take the manufacturing of the batteries into account. They're still better for the environment.

I dont know anything about the child/slave labor issue, if thats true then it should absolutely be fixed immediately.

1
UwUwU 1 point ago +1 / -0

Just google "are electric cars better for the environment"

3

Many of the leftists that wanted it shut down think we should all be driving electric cars and don't want us to get oil from anywhere. Too bad they don't realize it's not that simple when it comes to replacing fuel.

1
substantialmajestic 1 point ago +1 / -0

Do electric cars make noise? I wonder if they cause more accidents.

1
goldkeyboardwarrior 1 point ago +1 / -0

It depends on the car; some make artificial noise to alert blind pedestrians.

Some electric cars are actually good vehicles and Teslas Model S can go to 0-60 in less than three seconds. The issue with leftists is they assume all of us can switch to electric and that's simply not possible yet and probably won't be for decades.
