I'm gonna say a few things you pedes aren't gonna like. Fair warning.
And I'm not hating on the mods or the coder behind the site. Since he clearly took action where none of us did to actually get this site built.
That being said, this site needs help.
GoDaddy for domain registration. Yikes. Namecheap, Dynadot, and many others are US based and have not, as of yet, been shown to bow to outrage mobs.
Cloudfare regularly suspends services to sites that the outrage mob deems problematic. This is common knowledge to everyone, not just webdevs, we've all seen it happen.
The frontend, this site was built using jQuery for the frontend... I suppose that's a small, irrelevant point for most people, as jQuery will get the job done, and in the end that is all that matters.
But in the webdev world, and as a full stack dev myself, jQuery died about 6 years ago. React and Vue.js have long since taken jQuery's place as go-to frontend frameworks. The organization they offer your codebase enables lighting fast development. Need to change some complex functionality across the whole site? Vue's component system allows you to do that by editing one file.
I'll grant that #3 is a small gripe. Perhaps the coder behind this is a backend guy and jQuery is all he knew at the time. Perhaps the backend is a technological marvel (and it probably is considering the amount of traffic it's handling).
3 being said... the backend, I haven't seen the code, so I cannot honestly judge. But we're already having issues with double posting (look at this thread lmao) and other issues (like the whole site erroring out when clicking the browsers back button). If it's just one guy trying to fix all of this, I get that, but he's about to have a user count that demands all of his time and attention. That's not sustainable.
All I'm saying is that the mods should set up some sort of donation system so they can hire additional help when the inevitable leftist outrage mob shit hits the fan.
And despite my complaints, I want to reiterate that I'm extremely grateful to the mod team and whoever the coder is. This is a great site! It's incredible that it was nearly perfect on day one.
spez: I'd also happily donate my time to help. Full stack dev of 10 years.
Yeah I'm really worried about the outrage mod creepily making their way here and trying to shut us down because they're too sensitive to handle free speech.
I will also gladly help to keep this place afloat.
I wish, but without severe vetting on their part, willy nilly accepting help is akin to giving away the keys to the kingdom. If they want help, I'll wait for them to ask.
This got buried. You should pm this to a dev directly or hit em up on discord. Seems important and I know they’re recruiting talent. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I'd gladly disable adblocker for this site if they decided to allow ads. Not many sites on the internet get that treatment from me.
