How do people differentiate friend v foe in that scenario? I don't like in the city by any means but I'm about 20 miles away from a large city. Pedes could get mistaken for pantifa
You don't differentiate, it is simply a matter of the cities will wither and die as the rural areas have more power than anyone gives them credit for.
It reminds me of this concept from The Expanse called The Churn. Here's a quote...

We're not after the people. We're after their leaders. We'll recognize them.
Ask them if they support the Border Wall and the GEOTUS.
It's that simple.
Then ask if they can recite the pledge of allegiance verbatim. I know I can.
