They’re quick to agree within anyone who agrees with their bias and will default to authority and credentials unless they don’t agree and then they will will dismiss authority and credentials, if possible, and move to personal mockery. Most honest and scientific studies vs. ‘studies’ typically have the same conclusion that ‘further research is needed’. Further, the don’t default to science, but the scientist - this is how you get celebrity scientists - they’re not always wrong, but people assume the person is right.
People aren't quick to believe scientists. Just grab one of the scientists who preach something against the mainstream narrative and show them to a leftist, the leftist will not believe the scientist. People are quick to believe what they are told to believe by the mainstream media and scientists are just one of the many tools the mainstream media uses in its story-telling.

There's just so much out there, and when the incorrect information is blasted from so called "respected" sources, the truth gets lost in the shuffle, and it's a full time trying to find it anymore. Most people can't devote that kind of time to figuring it all out. It's a maze.
It took me years before I was fully red pilled, starting with gamergate and slowly working through the bullshit from there.
The same reason people believe the news media only tells truths and the government has their best interests at heart/will protect them. They've been conditioned to believe it.
