Long long long time ago it wasn't. But that's when the founder of Capitol Broadcasting was still alive - AJ Fletcher. Its very disappointing how far they have fallen TBF. I worked for WRAL a couple of different times and it was leftwing leaning sure, but not ridiculously biased and BLM-nasty like it is now. Sadly I must agree with your assessment.
I have been here since 1991 & honestly I can not believe just how bad they have gotten. Actually it is all of the “news”. World-wide. This though really got me upset.
No way, absolutely no way they could not have known how bad of an idea it was to post such an insult to Mr. Robinson. I did see that Mr. Robinson was complete class dealing with it. I give him props because I would have wanted to punch whomever posted that crap.
That is wild that you have worked for them though! I could not imagine what that would look like.
Back in the 80s and 90s and even up to 7 or 8 years ago WRAL was still the flagship station of solid journalism and fearless investigative reporting. As I said, I worked for them as a broadcast engineer when I was still in college (not as cool as it sounds) and then came back as a producer/writer in the creative division and finally a freelancer for the news dept after I had left ABC News and returned to NC. It was always the station of record in NC even against Charlotte's WBT and WSOC. Now....pretty much everyone who was a true "journalist" has left and been replaced by astonishingly ignorant twenty-somethings and far left wing activists. As POTUS would say..sad.
That is pretty neat.
I bet you do have some very interesting stories of things you have seen behind the scenes.
People do not really think too much about what it takes to bring a broadcast to an actual show.
As an outsider myself I never really think about it much more than I know I need to be in front of the TV at a particular time if I want to see it "live" so to speak.
It sounds interesting to me.
I bet it is sad to see something you put work into like that, to bring a quality product to people to watch & then turn around a few years later to find it nearly unrecognizable.
You are right.
A couple years ago i tuned in to watch it & the faces were different.
I was not sure i even was watching the show I tuned in for.
We have DirecTV. (Really, it is for my Dad, he pays the bill on that, otherwise it would be gone.) I live about 12 miles south of Roxboro. Anyway we have two choices on DTV for CBS feeds. WRAL & WFMY.
My friends a few miles away only get WRAL on their DTV.
If I watch CBS, I use the WFMY feed. It is easier for me to watch the triad feed. That is terrible to admit. :)
