To stop any future election fraud we must enforce a rule that counties need to report their finished totals in order of most populous to least populous, no matter how long it takes them to do so. The less populous counties can wait to report. This is the only way we won’t have future election nights where counting is “paused” in populous counties, so that they can wait for the less populous counties to report their totals, which the more populous counties then use to calculate how many fraudulent votes they need to come up with to install their candidate. This ultimately should be a nationally enforced rule, no exceptions.

So you want a district with 300 people to wait to report their vote count until a district with 10 million finishes counting? You won't have a "winner" for weeks.

We don’t need to do districts fellow caterpillar, we could just do counties. Would doing this stop more populous counties from being able to calculate how many votes they need to steal the election?

That is what I am saying.

LA county, CA has 10,150,558 people in it. Loving County, Texas has 169 people.

That is why that map that floats around every election listing results by county is stupid. More than half the states in the US have a smaller population than LA County.

We could impose a maximum time time limit. Report your final count by X date or tough luck. It’s happened before most memorably in Broward county.

And where do those votes go? Ever hear of hacking ?

I pay my taxes and do all of my DMV and other government interactions on-line and they're all secure- why can't we figure out secure voting too?

Everyone's social security info is already compromised. Then once you send that vote electronically anything can happen to it., as we saw several times this election.

What if the internet goes down? People want a hard record of their vote to keep as well.

Tl;Dr Not a good idea.

Generally speaking, electronic voting is a very bad idea. If somebody figures it out, you'll hear about it because that would be a breakthrough in computer science.

A couple of points:

  • not everyone has internet (muh disenfranchisement)
  • not everyone has a driver's license (muh disenfranchisement)
  • you have to make sure that the person who is submitting the vote is actually the person who they claim they are (a number of way this can be compromised)
  • most importantly, votes are anonymous, so whoever is in control of the system can just make the totals whatever they want and nobody would ever know

There's only one way to have a secure elections right now:

  • hand marked paper ballot
  • hand counting with observers
  • obstructing the observers should be a crime and must be vigorously enforced
