If that’s true then the purge will be quite extensive. They’re not really looking for extremists, they’re trying to purge populists.

I don’t see how they can manage that without severely degrading military capability. They’d have to fire too many people. It seems like the goal is to terrorize soldiers into ideological compliance by targeting a subset as with the Roman tactic of decimation, but they’ll just get discharged rather than executed.
