To me, draining the swamp implies that there is less swamp... Which is clearly not the case.

That's because your understanding of what it means to drain a swamp is flawed. When a swamp is drained, all the trash is revealed.

If I had known that was the actual meaning, I would never have bothered to get excited about Trump.

Anyone who has been paying attention knew how trash filled the swamp was.

I understand where you're coming from, but you also have to understand a lot of people were not paying attention to politics pre-2016. He opened a lot of eyes my friend, ftr it also frustrates me to see them never be held accountable for anything they do.

He definitely opened my eyes to how spineless Americans are.

kinda shortsighted and negative.. I think 2% of the population was paying attention before... And look where we are now.

Yea, censored. And the swamp is bigger.

Yeah we know all you cool kids always knew all along about everything. You were just waiting on someone ELSE to actually do something about it. You'll be waiting a long time. Trump revealed the full extent of the corruption which could only be guessed at before. But sadly we'll always have those "told you so" guys patting themselves on the back for their superior powers of deduction.

Last time this happened, the 'i told you so' guys were used as foundation materials for the guardhouses on soviet gulags.

OP is saying that by draining the swamp you see the swamp monsters.

Trump showed us the corruption (the monsters), it's our job to get rid of them.

IMO it's like his promise to make Mexico pay for the wall. He didn't, but he still built the wall and made Mexico hold the migrants moving on it.

He's Donald Trump. He talks a big game, doesn't deliver literally what he said, but he does deliver in the spirit of what he said he would do.

Did he make America great again or drain the swamp? Fuck no, that'll take decades. But he did what he could given 4 years hindered by enemies within and without, and put up a valiant effort to boot.

He never said Mexico is going to write a direct check for the wall.

It was proposed to either do a remittance tax, trade deal, or other methods.

He accomplished the USMCA and got a better deal than NAFTA which frees up funds to pay for the wall.

Replacing NAFTA is a huge fucking thing that I feel is an underrated accomplishment.

Honestly I don't care if Mexico paid for it at all. The cost of illegal immigrants on social services far outweighs the cost of a wall. I'm just glad he actually built the damn thing, even Reagan couldn't do that, he would have finished if he wasn't cheated out of the rest of his term.

I have no problem with setting goals and not making them. If you made all of them, you aimed too low.

But people claiming he accomplished his goal by changing the meaning is BS goalpost moving.
