Teachers make shit money. (Avg for my area is $45k).
Average class size is ~22 kids.
There are 180 school days in a year (required by state).
Average day is 7 hours.
$45,000 ÷ 180 days = $250 per day.
$250 ÷ 7 hours = $31.74 per hour.
$31.74 ÷ 22 students = $1.62 an hour per student.
~$11.34 a day per student.
Average cost of private school is $14,291 a year per student. (my state).
~$79.39 a day per student or ~$11.34 an hour per student.
Bump it to ~$22.72 a day per student and give it directly to the teacher.
That’s $90k a year, double the normal salary, nearly 3.5 times cheaper than private school, and an incredibly attractive teaching gig.
You and 21 other parents could literally hire and cherry pick any teacher you want.
Laws per state will vary but my state, Va, literally has little to no requirements on creating your own private school besides the number of days really.
Just a word of advice on uniforms from someone who wore them for middle school and high school, went through uniform inspection every morning and got sent home for any infraction... Firstly, one reason for uniforms is that they are supposed to keep kids focused on schoolwork instead of fashion competition. But in my experience this never worked. Competition and trends just moved to other areas like who had the most expensive backpack. Secondly, and more importantly, those uniforms were like a giant pedo magnet and they attracted a lot of unwanted attention from the creepiest adults when worn anywhere outside of school.
Uniforms in schools exist to condition kids to wear uniforms at work. To be content worker bees. Period. End of line.
Let kids express themselves. One of the best ways for them to do this is with clothing. Foster creativity. Embrace ingenuity. Create more entrepreneurs and less worker bees.
Interesting. I believe it. One other result of the weekday uniform was that my non-school clothes became ever more outrageous and punk rock because I only had two days a week to get that creative energy out of my system. And of course we broke uniform rules every way we could manage. I hated kneeling to make sure my skirt covered my knees. But I just rolled it up at the waist to make it shorter as soon as that was done. At one point they required us to wear saddle shoes so my best friend showed up with 4 inch platform saddle shoes. When they changed another rule and allowed stockings on cold days I got in trouble for wearing stockings with a garter belt I swiped from my grandma. Mischievous kids will find a way. ❤
Well, we need worker bees in society tho... not every kid can become a prize poet or finance director. Many people are just not that smart... sorry if that sounds harsh, but it is true.
