That's true, but even with people who don't need Senate consent, they were often snakes. Why were people like CIAmarella and Vindman working in the White House for example? They don't need Senate consent. His Chiefs of Staff seemed to all be snakes too. Also, aren't there ways around Senate consent, like how he got Grennel as ODNI?
Unlike, for example, Mr. Reagan, who had people like Ed Meece from CA, or GWB, who had James Baker from TX (who quarterbacked the legal defense of the 2000 election results) and, yes, Karl Rove, The Donald had few independent sources of talent other than his fine family, so he had to rely upon Republicans from the House and Senate, who were basically swamp creatures. Most of his generals also turned out to be swampy. That's why Ron Desantis, with the strength of the large State of Florida behind him, is looking so good at the moment.
Reagan and GWB made some bad personnel choices to. GWB because he is swamp himself. But for the most part the people they picked weren't as traitorous as the ones Trump ended up with. I don't entirely blame him because I have been surprised by many of them, like Pence or Mattis. Hard to see those coming. I do think he could have done more to select for loyalty though, and it ended up hurting him. Even his fine family isn't entirely great. I'm not a fan of Jared Kushner or example, and I think he was particularly well served by him.
He was a beautiful Man surrounded by absolute shit of the universe
My only complaint is that I wish he had done more to not surround himself with these snakes. I still don't understand that.
When your appointments need to be approved "with the advice and consent of snakes" how could it be otherwise.

Because the approved Snakes brought them in or left them in place.
