If you live in a blue Dem district, having an unregistered firearm is the least of your worries. Self-defense using a firearm in these areas is no longer considered a valid, legal defense as we're now seeing.
If I were still in CA, I wouldn't even bother trying to get a CCW and just carry the damn thing. Many folks are doing just that. They are misdemeanors and most jurisdictions around that state aren't doing anything about misdemeanor crimes. Their jails are over capacity, their probation departments are understaffed and unable to handle the workload and courts and DA's will do everything to avoid holding a costly, time-consuming jury trial. This is probably true around most parts of the country and it's 10x worse now because of covid. The backlog is incredible. They aren't even holding traffic court in many areas and tickets are just being dismissed if you demand a trial. It's actually more risky to drive unlicensed or while suspended because if caught they will tow your car and hold it for 30 days. All they can do with your gun is seize it for evidence. Then you'll be released on a citation to appear.
Nah, I used to but I got the hell out years ago. I live on a street full of guns now. I know because some punk went around stealing guns out of unlocked cars and managed to get eight before getting caught.
