Why don't we build our own voting system?

Yes, the existing machines were only PART of the problem but a rather large part.

We can have receipts for the vote. We can let every voter audit their own vote. We can make the data, the actual votes PUBLICLY AVAILABLE. We can make all actions on the machines take dual authentication to complete.

We can make it unfuckupable, yes, even if your retarded self used it.

This would just be the start!

We can all sit around and bitch or we can all take action to make a change. This is a change that is needed, we can all agree on that!

So we build a prototype and pitch it to all the red leaning places around our country. We have people show it to the public and create a demand for the machines and we tell people to demand the machines.

We go out and get signatures and we ( yes dumb) add it to the ballot to be voted on.

We do all the things we can possibly do together.

We protect the red we have.

Anyone who wants to help is welcome. Engineers, security experts, data lovers, hardware gurus, sales , government insiders ( not you 3 letters!)

We need a closed system that is as easy for a voter and unfuckupable as a toaster.

I think it would be easy.

Maybe it would be easier to get an existing company to do this shit? But then, why wouldn't they have done it already if they wanted to?

Am I the only retarded one left?

Why does there need to be any kind of machine at all? Each person who walks into the poling place receives a folder bearing their name on each ballot for each person running. The voter signs the ballot he/she/it wants to cast and puts their fingerprint in the box after touching an ink pad that stains their finger so they cannot vote twice. The other ballots are shredded and the one they want to cast is placed in the ballot box slot. The ballot box is locked with three locks. It can only be opened by the three chosen counters after the polls close. The box is opened by the counters in front of three witnesses and three cameras to permanently record the count. The ballots are counted and recorded on an official tally record for that district. Once the totals are transmitted to the central location for the state legislature to record the totals for each district and announce the winners for each election voted on. Now there is a permanent record that can be audited at any time.

Machines should not be used at all, ever in any election. Hand count at each precinct with witnesses.
