My sweet grandma died. Not from Covid, but because of the rules for Covid. She was in a nursing home and went from daily visits from friends, family, and church members to no visitors for months. She did not understand. She felt abandoned. When we tried to explain to her that we could not visit she was confused-why couldn't we visit? Were we sick? No. We aren't allowed. She had never experienced anything like this in her very long lifetime. She got lonely. We have no idea how they were taking care of her, as we were not allowed inside.

FUCK YOU FAUCI and RIP sweet Grandma

I'll NEVER put my loved ones in a nursing home. Too many stories of neglect and now this covid bullshit just cemented my decision.

I hope you don't have too. My grandma stayed home until she got dementia and fell and broke her hip then around 2 months later she died, but she was at a nursing home after the fall. Depends alot on how your parents age and how dependent they become. Some age better than others and can even become a danger to themselves. I took care of a guy who was always cold. The son said he turned up the house heat all the way and set up space heaters while he was at work and got the house into the 90s and that's how he got dehydrated and had a heart attack. My grandma with the dementia just chilled all day and my dad would set up meds and visit each day to see how she did and it worked out good until the end.

Yes, I hope you can manage not to put your loved ones in a nursing home. Sometimes, it is tough, because they need care that is challenging to provide in a home, but if you can do it, your loved ones will be grateful and lucky.

Similar story for my husband’s grandmother. His mom couldn’t go visit and make sure she was eating good. She beat COVID but then died a few weeks later cause no one could help her like they used to.

Heartbreaking. It truly is sad what is happening to so many elderly.

A coronavirus is pretty much a fancy pants way of saying cold.

It’s the proverbial lifting of the pinky. Mmmyes. Indeed. Quite.
