My babysitter and her boyfriend had a friend in his 20s who died from Covid, but he had really bad asthma since childhood and his body couldn't take it. The flu could have killed him also because his fragile health.
Did it just kill him? Or was he placed on a ventilator due to the asthma? Putting someone on a ventilator prior to HCQ or steroids (to reduce respiratory inflammation IF they need to) is a death sentence.
If he was intubated as an early intervention... that could have been his downfall.
If he was not... a 20 year old just dying rapidly from CV19? Would be an extreme outlier and to your point - just about any respiratory illness would have likely taken him out.

I don't know the details, but any respiratory infection would have been dangerous for him, influenza for example.
