Nothing is being done because the majority of people still have too much to lose.
If the economy would suddenly tank and tens of millions of Americans lost their jobs with few prospects of being able to feed or house themselves and their families things would turn ugly fast. Until then, most people simply see no reason to risk what they have.
I believe a lot of people would risk everything but there needs to be a movement to join. There's nothing to actually join right now... no one has taken leadership. And government is working overtime to prevent any leaders voice from rising above the rest.
Not to mention: debt. If your livelihood or ability to bank is threatened, the (credit card, student loan, mortgage) that hangs over you and your family will crush you.
The day people believe there's a chance to escape that debt, there will be a LOT more resistance.
