You are absolutely correct about this. Self-interest is precisely what the left wants to destroy with the creation of the New Soviet Man. He is a craven creature whose inverted sense of priorities would place anonymous "others", normally at the very fringes of his existence, centermost in his calculations, and himself the very last. This deliberate deconstruction of the human psyche resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union's population due to alcoholism, suicide and nihilism.
Although I like this poster, it makes a fundamental mistake.
It's like saying, "You are being conditioned to view Freedom of Speech as a right to say things that other people hate."
FREEDOM IS SELFISH.
Freedom is my right to be selfish -- to do what I choose to do, for my own benefit.
I can also be generous and kind, but that is my choice to make.
In order to attack freedom, you first attack the idea of selfishness.
Once you have demonized selfishness -- when only working for the benefit of others is considered virtuous -- there will be no freedom.
By accepting the idea that selfishness is bad, this poster is handing a large victory to our enemies.
The correct response is:
HELL YEAH, FREEDOM IS SELFISH! IT IS MY RIGHT TO BE SELFISH!
