The people's freedoms are your freedoms. This is a crucial mistake people make. There are no societal freedoms. The people don't have freedoms. Individuals have freedoms. Anyone who tries to put the group above the individual tramples the freedom of both.

What the other side needs to understand if we're to have parlay is that disagreement does not automatically mean disrespect for another's right to speak, much in the same way that people need to respect the person's right to autonomy, so long as they do not directly affect another's. That's what laws are supposed to protect.
