You are absolutely correct about this. Self-interest is precisely what the left wants to destroy with the creation of the New Soviet Man. He is a craven creature whose inverted sense of priorities would place anonymous "others", normally at the very fringes of his existence, centermost in his calculations, and himself the very last. This deliberate deconstruction of the human psyche resulted in the collapse of the Soviet Union's population due to alcoholism, suicide and nihilism.
