The polar vortex is supposed to be cold...and at the pole, not down in the continental USA. Warming average temperatures causes it to dip down south.
When it dips down that far south, the cold air takes in heat from the temperate latitudes, warming it up. The polar vortex gets warmer, warming up the poles.
I understand your confusion and frustration.
NOTE: I am not saying "DA WERLD IZ AENDIN'!" I'm saying what they are saying is happening is accurate. And that it is not necessary to convert humanity into Marxist slaves to "save" it.
The climate is changing, human action is contributing to it, and we don't need to worry about the world "ending" in 12 or 20 or however many years they are claiming. Socialists will use any excuse to push their idiotic ideology, climate change just happens to be the flavor of the month.
It's easier to get them in a tizzy by pointing out we aren't killing the planet, we're just making it harder for us to survive. The planet will be just fine.
Absolutely right. There is nothing we can do to the planet to either save or destroy it. The Earth is a giant ball of molten stone with a thin frozen crust. We can't change that.
What we can change is whether or not we can/will want to live on it.
It's not a normal pattern. It's an anomaly. Your comment reads like it's a normal weather pattern and it is not. the polar vortex first emerged between in 2013-2016 and manifested twice, an intense one and a less intense echo. It appeared as a direct result of the RRR another intense high heat drought anomaly that stayed in one place for a very long time, over a year I believe, and it was off the southern coast of alaska and western coast of washington state. It was responsibel for secondary long droughts in california
I personally think it's man made. Because if it is NOT man made then it suggests the earth itself has a built-in immune system and that this is effectively a 'cytokine storm' for the earth
Where I live we get this type of weather every winter. EVERY. FUCKING. WINTER. It's completely normal, and has been since, well, the end of the last ice age.
I dunno how much human action actually contributes to it. The "97% of climate scientists agree global warming is man-made" was an outright lie peddled by Cook et al. It was debunked that they were mis-reading the papers they studied and classifying them to falsely create that statistic.
Then when they got called out on it, Cook et al did what leftists all do these days. They doubled down and just reasserted the lie again in a second study that came to the same conclusion, and now no-one cares anymore because "well they fixed it and 97% of climate scientists still agree".

I apologize. I did not intend for it to be read as "normal." Just that the polar air isn't supposed to be this far south.
