This is where morals and influence play a huge role. If your morals are good, putting family before country does no harm. If you have global influence, putting your family before your country can cause major harm to both your country and the world. The ideal is to insure you family has what it needs to survive comfortably, then help your countrymen. But with greedy people there is never enough for themselves or their family.
Okay, I see what you're saying. My perspective is one of, at least attempting to be, following the cardinal virtues, and straying from the cardinal sins. This ideal is all but completely lost on most public figures, but in a coherent and moral world this would be the standard. And in such a world, I do believe that faith, family, country would be the correct order of the world
I agree that it is lost on public figures, but to fight that we have to keep the mainstream out of our, and our families, lives as much as possible. Teach the values you want in your life to your kids.
I just watched my country be subverted because people protected the lives of their family over the lives of the entire country. There's part of me that completely agrees with you, the first devotion belongs to the family, but if the risk is either "my family dies" or "my nation dies", and I love my nation, I would rather a small number of people suffer than a large number.
The sad thing is that we saw how deep their brainwashing goes. Children were literally ratting out their parents to the FBI for attending that rally in DC. I don't know what goes through the mind of a kid that puts their government ahead of their own fathers and mothers.
