This story is super sketchy. First, C-4, or any explosive doesn't just walk away that easily. This would have been a coordinated effort to extract the explosive from the base. Multiple individuals would have to be involved. Also, it's difficult to detonate most modern explosives without the proper peripherals. For example, detonators and or detonation cord.
Detonators are not stored with the primary explosives for obvious reasons. Further complicating the theft and leaving more room for error.
If this story is true it would take CID less than a 12 hour shift to know who is responsible.
And finally, I served 13 years and never heard of the Marine Corps using "C4". Not saying they don't but if they said RDX or something like that the story would be more believable.
My guess for the false flag location: Super Bowl or peach mints.
