First: If you genuinely feel that way, call someone for professional help.

Second, turn off the TV, get off social media, and go find a place where there are real people doing real things that you also enjoy doing. If you live in a Democrat socialist state, get in a car or hop on a bus and get out of town for a few days to somewhere normal. Give yourself a break, enjoy nature - God didn’t give you the miracle of life and the beauty of this world to give in to the despair of the devils lies.

This is being done intentionally. We are in information warfare like never seen before. If it truly has become unbearable for you, there are people that know how to help. Reach out to them. https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/

no, i feel just the opposite. I want a 5 million man march on DC, drag every piece of shit government traitor out of their buildings and give them the choice of gitmo or the rope

tacoBear [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Man I'd love to see that, but we couldn't even sustain a protest for more than a day at a time, whereas people in Belarus have been protesting day and night, non-stop.

1/6 was just the beginning, fren. Our movement is going to have ups and downs.

5
tfinley 5 points ago +5 / -0

Fren these are difficult times. It is easy to despair. The solution lies within you. Pull yourself out of that dark hole one step at a time. Make a commitment to yourself to do something important. Something to make a difference. Believe it or not alone we may not matter, together we make a difference. Start making phone calls or emails to your state officials. Ask them to take a stand against government overreach. N dakota is going to nullify unconstitutional actions by the federal government. Ask your state to become a 2nd amendment sanctuary state. Taking action does matter. Knowing you are actively doing something will boost your self worth. Look at the people on this site. We are all working to get our nation back. Replace that sadness with anger and do something!!!

Get a puppy ❤️

tfinley 2 points ago +2 / -0

Great idea! Better yet rescue a dog from the animal shelter. Some of the best most devoted dogs I have had were pound puppies. You are literally saving their lives. My last rescue was a 5 year old rottie. She was on a short list for death. She had very obviously been abused by her former owner. I had just lost a devoted 13 year old rottweiler. We needed each other.

got stuck in asia once after a xflight was canceled. I didn't want to be there, and found it absurdly hot and dirty so I stayed in the hotel the whole day while waiting.

there was this channel that had some dharmic religious programming on it either hindu or buddhist, with english subtitles. Nothing else was subtitled so I watched.

it was a story of a prince who's ship sank in the middle of the sea. he swam for days and days praying the whole time but help never came.

finally a god or angel saw his struggle and came down to help. it asked him why didn't you give up after so much time and struggle?

he said even though it seemed helpless it would be a sin to be indolent and would show lack of gratitude for the life given, as long as he was alive it was worth trying.

keep swimming.

You got a church nearby? Or a computer? Try searching for "The Holy Bible". Start reading. Find god.

I'm an atheist. My entire belief system is built on atheism.

5
anon09 5 points ago +6 / -1

this is probably the problem. most of the people completely losing their minds right now are the atheists. they have no idea what is going on, how any of it makes sense, etc. the ones who aren't losing their minds seem to be just putting their head down, ignoring everything, and diving straight into an ultra-consumerist lifestyle to numb the pain.

5
PerchingEagle 5 points ago +5 / -0

If your atheism allows for belief in logic, then perhaps you'll deduce that your overarching ethical framework needs reconsideration. Not saying it's directly causative, but the atheism preceded the tears & wanting to end it all.

It's simple, think only of the world, and the world will disappoint you & isolate you. Seek a higher power, submit to the whole, get a little glimpse, redirect the light, and perhaps you & those around you share in the joy. And most days we all totally fail, but sometimes not. Cheers.

Atheism is fine and dandy if your soulless, but your not. No belief system can substitute for salvation. And you know salvation when you find it.

3
carbonsteel 3 points ago +3 / -0

Give some thought to reading the Bible. Believe me, it is time to reconsider your position.

2
Food4thought 2 points ago +2 / -0

Same. The problem is that youve allowed yourself to dwell on the negative aspects of the extastential world... thats part of THEIR plan. Demolarize people till they no longer have any fight left in them. Take a break find some things to be greatful for every day. Its tough at first

4
FreeAndFairElections 4 points ago +4 / -0

Take a break from all of this. Cut all social media and political news out of your cycle for a while. Doesn't mean the problems will go away but you need to go reset your perspective for a while and then come back to it fresh later.

I hear you.

I just finished a 40 minute self directed piano lesson and feel much happier.

Find a musical instrument — anything from a recorder to a piano — and learn how to play it.

Used stores have musical instruments and you can download lesson plans for free from the instrument.

I promise — even if you suck at playing an instrument as much as I suck at play8ng the piano — you will feel better and connected to something beautiful.

Also - gardening

Music and Gardening. Should have made a separate comment for each so I could up-vote twice.

2
tfinley 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't play an instrument but music definitely lifts my spirits. I found gardening during a severely difficult emotional problem. Gardening took away my problems. When I am in the garden nothing else exists. Just me and nature. It brings me peace

2
TheTudes 2 points ago +2 / -0

I use both to stay sane and positive...

I am a much better gardeners than musician though...

Legit advice. Worked for me. Try it out yourself. See if it works.

Life presents all these opportunities that we usually ignore. You could be searching for a (new) job. You could be searching for a (new) girlfriend. You could reconnect with some old friends. You could explore a new hobby or go to some unknown place. But we are usually too comfortable with our lives or too scared of rejection to exploit these opportunities.

So I tried the whole "Yes, man"-routine from that stupid Jim Carrey movie. You just say "yes" to everything. For a period. Even if you find it extremely uncomfortable (I had sex with a woman twice my age). And then if you get hurt in some way, it doesn't matter. At least you did something. At least you are an explorer. A pioneer. A fucking adventurer. You learned something. What I found is that life can be way more entertaining than porn, gaming and social media. You sort of forget those things after a while (I still come for the memes though).

I have felt despair too, not just like yours, but painful. Many people have, and have climbed out of the pit. Don't let the low scare you or paralyze you, you can ride it out. Talk to someone for sure if you have self harming feelings - that is not a solution even if it feels like a way to escape. Many people are lost now, by design of those who lust for power. The fact that you feel despair shows that you have an instinct for truth and life. Hang onto that. The world needs people like you who are aware enough to see the evil and know it for what it is.

Thank you for those kind words of validation. The problem is that humanity is too inept to be awakened. That's what I've been discovering.

I honestly don't think we are at a dead end. Every person can choose to either spead darkness or reflect light. As unlikely as this may have seemed a few years ago, Trump started a movement of light and truth that billions all over the globe are responding to. The enemies of freedom are pulling out all stops to create despair and mistrust in people. Dividing to conquer. They want us to see the worst in each other, and admittedly, there is so much to disgust us now. You don't have to call it God, I dont, but the life instinct is strong and valiant. It is so worth clinging to, for yourself and for the world. You need some comfort now, I think, but you will be good.

Pull back on that joystick and gain altitude, fren.

Ya know who is responsible for your happiness? You. You control that.

Did you die from the Obama years? Apparently not.

Then get your ass to the gym, to a church, to the dog shelter.... something. Don't let the leftist infestation at the White House steal your peace.

Depression is a medical condition in a lot of cases. I'm not telling you what to believe but the advantage the muslims have over the athiests is a sense of community and social involvement. Christians as well have Sunday carry in dinners where people can interact socially. At worst you make new friends. If medical then there are mood stabalizers out there like Lexipro which cut down on highs and lows. Consult your doctor because you may be bipolar. The world will still be spinning tomorrow so don't let it get you down.

3
tacoBear [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm not bipolar. My moods are stable. Stably low. I am already on SSRIs.

1
consumptiveballerina 1 point ago +1 / -0

For a while, or did you just start? It can take some time for your mood to balance out. Also not every SSRI works for everybody.

1
tacoBear [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

For a while.

2
consumptiveballerina 2 points ago +2 / -0

Have you discussed your current mood with the person who prescribed your SSRIs?

Just a quick note, I'm not so good with the sympathy or tact. If I say anything that sounds mean, I'm not trying to be mean.

tacoBear [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

They just prescribe another pill or increase the dosage. They don't bother with the underlying problems. Their solutions are band-aid solutions.

1
consumptiveballerina 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well, yeah. Sometimes I band-aid can help, though, to get you to the point where someone can address the underlying problems.

2
EllemenoP 2 points ago +2 / -0

Atheism is not the truth my friend. Please explore God again. Jesus Christ is hope, truth, peace and joy - sustenance through hard times and shelter from every storm. Your feelings are natural of course, but please don't fall into the depths of despair, defy our enemies through strength, kindness and dignity. Walk away from social media and the news if that helps, or keep talking to us if you feel that would be more helpful - but don't give up sweetheart.

He's good, but not enough for me.

1
crumbhole 1 point ago +1 / -0

no, "he" is not enough of course. but if you're familiar with his work you'll know his claim that the meaning in life is responsibility. voluntarily taking on responsibility is what will lift you out of hell. all the more if you find some brothers to work along side.

i know this works because i've been doing it for a long time and had i not, i would no doubt be making all the dark complaints you have made. i wish the best for you. if you happen to live in southeast tennessee i know people who can help.

JP has said start by cleaning your bedroom. Organize your day by completing micro-tasks which actually accomplish something tangible. Occupy yourself up by focusing on each accomplishment in your day. Gradually over time gain more control over your well being by taking on more and more responsibility for your life, and in your life, and for and in the lives of your loved ones and the people in your life. Simple and effective advice.
